Are you new to the world of dabbing? Or perhaps you've finally seen the light and are ready to transition from a ceramic, glass, or titanium banger to a quartz banger? Congratulations! Because you've landed on a gold mine of information about quartz bangers and how they play a part in what is known as dabbing.

There are several types of dab nails and bangers that exist in today's market. Undoubtedly, Quartz Bangers are amongst the most popular type of dab nails in today's market. They are mainly preferred to their counterparts due to the following reasons. They offer premium heat regulation, extreme flavor, reduce waste, and are easy to clean.

What is a Quartz Banger?

A quartz banger is a variation of a dab nail known to be a nail made from high-quality quartz crystals. Quartz bangers typically have frosted joints all in one seem less welds. They are all clear and translucent in color. Quartz bangers are popular for their powerful tasting vaporization.

Bangers come in various shapes and sizes, and can be divided into three sections. These include the joint, the neck, and the bucket.

  • Bucket: The bucket is where you'll be heating concentrates. You can't miss it: it's shaped like a mini-mug.
  • Joint: The joint is the tube on the end of the nail that connects it to your dab rig or waterpipes.
  • Neck: The neck is the tube connecting the joint to the bucket and is the longest part of the best quartz banger.

Quartz Banger Benefits:

Here are some of the benefits of using a quartz banger that makes them the most popular type of dab nail:

  • Durability: Quartz is a very durable material, so they are less likely to crack vs. glass
  • Heat retention: They retain heat for longer-lasting and evenly distributed products.
  • Flavor: The flavor of your concentrate is preserved when using quartz vs. it tastes like glass or metal.
  • Easy to clean: They are easy to clean with an ISO dunk and a Q-tip and are less likely to become a hazy color.

How to use a Quartz Banger?

Using a quartz banger can be easy. You will need a water pipe rig, a banger, a carb cap, a dabber tool, and your favorite concentrate oil. You will heat your quartz banger to your preferred temp and allow it to cool slightly. You will then take and drop your concentrate in your banger with your dab tool. Cap and inhale, and that's all there is to it.

Here are some tips for using a quartz banger:

  • Heat your banger and let it cool to a perfect dab temp to prevent it from cracking.
  • Use the proper accessories when it comes to dabbing. Have a carb on hand, as well as a dab tool, for a better smoking experience.
  • Clean your banger after each use! Iso dunk and a Q-tip is your friend! This prevents the leftover residue in your banger from turning into that dreaded charred, hazy-looking banger. Proper care ensures longer-lasting products.
  • Do not dunk a hot banger into an Iso dunk; this can cause your banger to crack if it is too high of a temp.

Glass Banger Vs Quartz Banger? What's The Difference?

At first glance, glass bangers and quartz bangers look the same. Many people think quartz is a different type of glass, but they are themselves minerals.

The main difference between Glass Bangers and Quartz Bangers is simply the material they are made from. Glass Bangers are made from borosilicate glass, which can break and crack easily, and Quartz Bangers are made from high-quality quartz crystals, a more durable and longer-lasting material.

They both have pros and cons, so choosing the right one for your smoking needs is important.

What is the difference Between Black and Yellow Line Quartz Bangers?

Our black line bangers and yellow line bangers are variations of quartz bangers. Both lines are premium products offered here at Honeybee Herb and can be found near a smoke shop. The black line provides the highest level of quality when it comes to our bangers.

  • Full aka Seamless weld
  • Frosted joints
  • All-in-one joints
  • Solid clean welds
  • Quartz material

Our yellow line banger has the above features except for the full/seamless weld. So instead of being made from one solid piece of quartz, the yellow line is made from two that are then welded together. It is worth noting that both the black and yellow line quartz bangers are FDA lab-tested and Prop 65 compliant.

Difference Between a 45° Degree & 90° Degree Angle Banger Joints?

The angle formed by a nail's neck determines its degree. The main difference between a 45° degree and 90° degree banger is the angle of the joint. The angle of the joint affects how a banger fits into the water pipe.

45° degree joints must be paired with 45° degree bangers; this ensures a solid seal and a good fit for your dab rig, dab nail, and overall dabbing experience.

  • Angled at 45° degrees from the joint connection
  • More compatible with smaller or heady-style rigs
  • Better suited for low temp dabs.
  • Shorter heat retention
  • Airflow can be more restricted
  • Heat distribution can be one-sided.

90° degree joint pairs with a 90° degree banger on your dab rig; this means the joint is vertically up and down.

  • Angled at 90° degrees from the joint connection
  • Compatible with larger rigs
  • Can withstand hotter temperatures
  • Easy airflow
  • Long-lasting heat retention
  • Evenly distributed heat.

The Most Common Types Of Bangers:

Quartz bangers are a fan favorite when it comes to dabbing. Made out of high-quality quartz, these bangers are more durable, longer lasting, and provide a tasty, temped dab. There are many different versions of quartz bangers, and new ones come out daily, each with its own pros and cons.

Here are Some of the most common types of quartz bangers include:

  • Flat-Top Quartz Bangers: The flat-top dab nail has to be the most popular quartz banger on the market today. Of course, it has many variations. It allows you to use it with any carb cap on the market and is known to many as old faithful.
  • Opaque Bottom Quartz Bangers: This type of quartz banger is also known as a white bottom banger. The design's focal point is its opaque bottom. The opacity of the lower part enables heat to be retained for longer. However, the side walls will cool down at their standard rate, and the opaque bottom retains heat twice as long as the regular side walls. If you like taking big dabs, this might be a better option for you. By retaining heat longer, an opaque bottom will let you get through your big dab with less chance of having to reheat.
  • Thermal Quartz Banger: The Thermal dab nail type features a double-wall design that prevents your dabs from being sucked into your dab rig, ensuring complete product vaporization. Another great feature of the thermal quartz banger is that it enables you to regulate your banger's airflow with a bubble carb cap. A carb being placed on the top of your nail utilizes more air flow to agitate and move your dab around the surface of the banger, allowing for complete vaporization and little to no waste.
  • Terp Slurper Quartz Banger: A terp slurper or Honeysuckle banger is a different design from a quartz banger. A Honeysuckle terp slurper is heated in the same fashion as mentioned before. The main difference is placing a Dab marble on the top to seal the cylinder and then introducing your concentrates through the bottom. Tiny angled holes at the bottom serve two purposes; To pull the dabs into the chamber. The angles produce a vortex, spinning the dab up the cylinder, providing even more optimal vaporization of your product. Slurpers are excellent for large dabs. Dab Marble sets, honey pearls, honey capsules, or terp screws are best paired with a Honeysuckle terp slurper.
  • Round Bottom Quartz Nails: Apart from the obvious fact that the round bottom quartz rig nail has a rounded base, it has some great benefits for your dabbing sessions. It comes with either a flat top or with a beveled edge. It is easy to clean, while its curved edges allow your CBD concentrates to melt, move, and vaporize freely. Great option and many people's daily driver.
  • Seamless Bangers:  A seamless banger, also known as a full weld banger, is a banger with sleek and smooth edges. No rough spots, no drilled holes, and no weld weakness. It looks clean, smokes clean, and is a durable type of banger to choose from.
  • Blender Dish Bangers: The blender dish banger is a newer style but very popular amongst the community. It features a large dish at the bottom, which allows for it to be heated quickly and easily. It also allows for your dab to be placed anywhere on the dish. Due to this feature, this is a bottom-loading banger vs. being loaded from the top side. Therefore, you can place your carb cap or marble cap on top of the nail before dropping your dab.

How to choose the right quartz dab banger sizes:

When it comes to dabbing, size does matter. Having the correct gender, joint size, diameter, and angle, makes all the difference when buying accessories for your dabbing experience.

Before purchasing your dab rig, here are a few things you must do first.

  • Confirm Your Rig's Gender. Is your rig joint male or female? This will determine what banger joint you need. Male joints connect with female banger nails, while female joints connect with male banger nails. For context, a 14mm male quartz banger to a 14mm female rig.
  • Confirm the Size of the Banger. Your rig size determines the size of your banger nails. The three primary joint sizes are 18mm, 14mm, and 10mm. Purchase the same mm-size banger as your rig. For example, if you have a 14mm rig, you must buy a 14mm quartz banger. You must consider two other factors: the wax banger diameter and the joint angles. Choosing between a 45° degree angled nail and a 90° degree angled nail is strictly related to what will look and function best in your dab rig and has nothing to do with the mm size.
  • Banger Diameter: Your banger diameter is the outside measurement of your banger; standard buckets are usually 20mm-25mm in diameter, this is important to know to pair carb caps and inserts with your banger. Bangers and inserts must have a different diameter. An insert must be at least 4 mm less in diameter to be compatible with a rig banger. For example, 12 mm quartz rig bangers would be consistent with 9 mm quartz inserts.
  • Joint Angle: Joint angle is important. Having the correct size joint ensures you have a proper seal, giving you the best vaporization and hit possible.

How to clean quartz dab bangers?

You would agree that clean bangers look nicer, last longer, and taste better than dirty quartz bangers. Therefore, you must ensure they are always clean to enjoy an incredible smoking experience continuously. A bit of maintenance, utilizing a cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol to wipe out the excess material, will help maintain a clean quartz banger. But dab nails may require a little deeper cleaning after a big dab sesh. So, how do you clean quartz bangers?

To clean a banger or nail, you will need the following:

  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Salt
  • Dab Torch
  • Warm Water
  • Cotton swabs
  1. Soak the banger in salt and 99% ISO Alcohol. Start the cleaning process by soaking your banger in a salt solution and 99% ISO alcohol. A mixture of salt and 99% ISO alcohol gives off a powerful solution that cuts through dab residue. Soak your banger in the solution for at least 12 hours to soften the residue.
  2. Wash and clean with warm water. Bring out your quartz banger from the solution and wash adequately with warm water.
  3. Heat your quartz banger. After the residue has been removed, heating your banger comes next. You can do this with your touch with a temperature reaching 600 to 800F. The heat should turn the leftover residue into ash, completely removing any residue left.
  4. Clean the bowl with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab. Leave your banger to cool to room temperature, and then clean the bowl with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab. Fresh puddles and yellow residue should clean easily without being too wet or sticky.
  5. Use dry cotton swabs to clean excess alcohol.
  6. Repeat the process until all residue is removed.

Following these tips lets you keep your quartz banger clean and looking its best.

How long do I heat my quartz banger?

Heating your quartz banger can be easy. A lot of people these days use a temp device to get the perfect dab. However, if you don't have a temp device, the most common recommendation for heating your banger is torching it for 40 to 60 seconds or when it turns red.

The exact period is determined by the temperature of heat applied and the amount of dab being torched. Once you're done heating, let it cool for 30-60 seconds before taking your hit, then place your concentrate into the nail, top it with a carb cap, and inhale.

Things To Consider When Buying Quartz Banger?

There are several things to take into consideration when buying a Quartz Banger. What are your personal preferences? Material, style, size, edge, and price are just a few.

  • Material Quality: You want to make sure you are getting a high-grade quality quartz crystal.
  • Thickness: The size of your banger matters. This ensures you have a good seal on your rig's joint for proper vaporization when you inhale.
  • Heat Retention: Different style bangers have different heat retention and heat distribution properties. You want one that holds heat for a proper amount of time and that heats evenly when torched.
  • Thermal Conductivity: You want a banger that heats quickly and efficiently. Overheating a banger can damage it and alter your flavor of your concentrate.
  • Bevel Or No Bevel: The edge of the top of your banger can be beveled or flat. Some people prefer beveled for a tighter seal, and others prefer flat to be easily paired with any carb cap.
  • Weld: Does the banger has a seamless solid weld? These types of welds are the most durable and tough when it comes to choosing your banger.
  • Price: Bangers come in at different price points. How much are you willing to invest in quality, or will you find a banger at high quality at a decent cost, or will you decide to go  with a cheap one you can hit hard?
  • Brand Reputation: Read reviews. Brand reputation is important. You want to buy and invest from companies that care, not companies that don't.
